On Saturday, November 17th, 2018 from 8:30am - 1pm, the Wolfville Farmers’ Market is embarking on a 'Zero Waste Day' challenge to reduce the waste at our Market. Bring your own forks, spoons, plates, cups, reusable bags, containers, etc. to help us in this journey. You can also check out our new Community Mug Station and skip your usual disposable coffee cup! We can't wait for you to help us in this Waste Free challenge. Make sustainable choices part of your Market day!

Holiday Season Kickoff - Hosted by Community Development at Acadia University

The winter season is upon us with an array of holidays just around the corner! We want to start the season by celebrating the diversity of holiday’s our community has to offer. Come and join us for our Holiday Season Kickoff on November 21st from 4-7. It will be a fun filled evening with food inspired by holidays around the world. There will be Minute to Win It activities, an Open- Mic, a scavenger hunt and more! Also, for every 10th student to show their Acadia ID a door crasher prize will be won, so be sure to show your student IDs! See you there!

In health, we join together to share in a fun evening discovering the many ways we can be supported in our wellness. Join us for a Market Supper, pick up some veggies, and discover the many health and wellness practitioners working right here in the Valley. We have invited practitioners and instructors from a variety of modalities. Organizations and practitioners will have information booths, and share their skills and services during the Market as a way to promote the Health and Wellness Sector in our Community.

he Market will be awash in colour lights for our Diwali Market and Community Supper Celebration! Many of our vendors will feature Indian-inspired food! Some highlights of the evening: a special Diwali craft for the kids and everyone who gets a Market Supper will be able to try Gulab Jamun, a special Indian dessert, thanks to Vijay of Taj Mahal Catering! There will be live music and Bollywood dancing!

Meathead Goldwyn bio:

Meathead is the barbecue whisperer, hedonism evangelist, and mythbuster behind AmazingRibs.com, the world’s most popular outdoor cooking website. He is the author of Meathead, The Science of Great Barbecue and Grilling, a bestseller named one of the 100 Best Cookbooks of All Time by Southern Living magazine. Celtic Oktoberfest! Live Music: The North Moutain Ceilidh Band

Live music from 4:30 - 6:30!

Andy Webster and Scott Henderson are the musical backbone of the North Mountain Ceilidh Band. Together they stir up crowds; cause toes to tap;  and rouse audiences to join in captivating, Celtic, chorus lines.

Andy, from Scotland, has been described as “one of his generation's leading instrumentalists”and his guitar, bouzouki playing and singing has led him to stages worldwide. He has worked alongside the likes of Leahy and runs Webster’s Guitar Academy out of Canning, NS.

Scott has been immersed in Celtic music for over 30 years, is a champion piper, and has played at hundreds of events and venues.

Solar Panel Celebration and Sustainability Fair

Join the Wolfville Farmers’ Market as we celebrate the installation of our 20kw array of solar panels with a Sustainability Fair.  We’ll share the story of how this project came to pass, and its expected impacts while recognizing our community partners who made it possible.  Given our own solar panel installation, the highlight of the night will be a Q and A session with many NS experts in the Solar Energy sector sharing their experience with us.

Our Sustainability Fair is part of our Wednesday Community Market and Market Supper with over 25 vendors, and live music!  We hope to see you there! Our Market Suppers are $10 and you can get your tickets at the Info Booth to then also receive a complimentary serving of food

Live Music: Jessica Jurgenliemk

As a part of our Wednesday Community Supper Market, with over 30 vendors, we look forward to listening to alt-folk live music with Jessica Jurgenliemk, performing with folk/pop guitar inspired music from 4:30pm - 6:30pm!

Jessica Jurgenliemk is a 19 year old singer-songwriter from the South Shore of Nova Scotia. She began classical piano lessons at age 6, later learned to play guitar, and is now in her second year of Music Therapy at Acadia University. She has been writing and performing her own music on local stages in and around her hometown of Shelburne, NS since the release of her 3-song demo in 2012. She has since then completed a full length album of original songs entitled "Circumstance" at HarbourTone Productions in 2014. 

Her music is a dynamic and emotional mix of indie folk-pop, created with a passion for music and poetry.

As part of our Weekly Market with over 70 farmers, chefs and artisans we look forward to Donna & Andy playing a number of fiddle tunes and original Maritime flavoured songs LIVE from 9:30AM to 12:30PM. You might get the urge to join in and play their Newfoundland Ugly Stick, wash boards or spoons! They always try to fit in their penguin line dance and their pirate song (complete with balloon swords)! We look forward to spending another beautiful market day accompanied by these talented musicians.
